Adult Faith Enrichment Committee:
The Adult Faith Formation Committee is an integral part of the Christian Formation of our parish family. It has the responsibility of researching, developing, promoting, and evaluating processes, programs and events which answer spiritual needs that parishioners feel and express. It gives leadership to the parish's efforts to move people beyond where they are to a deeper understanding and experience of faith.

Altar Linens

        Those who launder and iron the various altar cloths and purificators.

Archdiocesan Annual Catholic Appeal:
The Annual Catholic Appeal is a yearly drive to raise funds in support of Archdiocesan programs.

 Art & Environment:
The Art & Environment Committee is responsible for the decorating of church for holydays and holidays.

Athletics-Youth:

A supervised sports program for the youth in our area. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf and track.

Baptismal Garments:

Our group creates the baptismal garments for our infants receiving the sacrament of baptism. Cutting and sewing skills are used in making them.

Children ages 1-3 are invited for child care during the 10 am Mass.

Consolation Ministry:
The Ministry of Consolation in response to God's call to be minister of consolation, offers pastoral and spiritual support to the bereaved, care givers and congregation. Through education, counseling and other resources, this ministry offers to parishioners who have suffered a loss through death (or other personal or family crisis) the opportunity to receive the healing comfort of God.

Bible Study Group (Wednesday mornings):
A group study of Catholic Church history and Scripture. Meetings are held Wednesday mornings from 9:30 am to 11:30 am in the Assisi House. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Blood Donor Program:
Twice annually parishioners donate blood on parish grounds.

Bridge:
Daytime Ladies: Daytime ladies roundelay bridge that meets September through May.

Card Party

            Adults meet once a month, usually on the first Monday, to play their choice of Bridge or Pinochle.

Choirs:
Adult choir to sing at the 10am & 12pm Sunday Masses and other major liturgies. The choir practices on Thursday evenings at 7:30pm. Also, there is a youth choir who practices on Wednesdays after school.

Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA):
For those interested in receiving instructions in order to enter the Catholic Church.

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP):
Is a two day, one overnight, weekend retreat experience. This effective spiritual renewal process calls together the members of the parish - priest and laity - to experience personal conversation and Christian community in the environment of our own parish. Come prepared to have fun and renew your heart.

The Clarions:

A Social group of senior citizens. The goal is to address the social and spiritual needs of our senior citizens. Meets the first Tuesday of every month at 9:30 am in the Assisi House for coffee and donuts. Various and numerous activities are planned during the year. Everyone is welcome!

Communion Call Ministry:
Eucharistic ministers who take Communion to those who are ill or unable to attend Mass.

Confirmation Preparation:
A 10 week preparation program for those 8th grade or older for the sacrament of Confirmation.

Cotillion
        Eighth graders are invited to attend a five-evening Cotillion program. They will be instructed in social graces and    
        various dance steps.  There is a nominal cost for this program.

Dartball:
This is an ecumenical competition among area churches. Competition begins in January and continues for 13 weeks.

Ministry to Delmar on the Green Nursing Home:
Two Parishioners take Communion to Delmar on the Green Nursing Home after each Sunday 10 AM Mass. Also, a service is held on Thursdays.

Donut Sundays:
Donuts and cookies are offered in our Gathering Space on most second Sundays of the year, after all Sunday liturgies.

Engaged Couples Preparation:
A four to six week program where an engaged couple and a "host" couple from the Parish meet one night a week in an informal setting as an intimate alternative to large group marriage preparation classes. The weekly meetings revolve around issues concerning what it means to have a Catholic marriage and communication within a marriage.

Eucharistic Adoration:
Everyone is invited to participate in Eucharistic Adoration between the 8:30am Mass on Tuesday and the 8:30am Mass on Wednesday. You can come whenever you wish or you can sign up for a particular hour each week.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:
Lay persons specially commissioned to help with the distribution of Holy Communion at Masses where needed. May also take Holy Communion to shut-ins.

Felice Cuores Party Time
 A party for adults ages 18 and older that are mentally handicapped or developmentally disabled. The parties are from 7pm to 10pm in the dining hall on one Saturday of each month from September through May. A $5 entry fee includes DJ, soda, snacks and door prizes. The parties are chaperoned by the Knights of Columbus and the Ladies Auxiliaries. There is no charge for parents or care-givers who choose to stay.

Finance Commission:
The Finance Committee of St. Clare is a group who assists the parish priests in administration of the parish. It has the obligation of planning, providing for, and supervising the financial affairs and physical properties of the parish. The committee is concerned with parish resources, the budget, church support, and the effective utilization and maintenance of the parish plant.

 First Reconciliation & First Eucharist:

The program to prepare children in the second grade for reception of the Sacraments of First Penance & First Eucharist. Children are required to have had religious education in first grade.

Fish Fry:
An Athletic Association fund raiser held every Friday during Lent (not Good Friday).

Food Pantry:
The collection of food in conjunction with the St. Vincent De Paul Society for the needy in our parish. The food and other household necessities are collected on the first Sunday of every month and placed in the food pantry room in the back of church.

Funeral Outreach:
An organization of volunteers who provide a lunch after the funeral service for the bereaved families of our parish.

Hospitality Ministry:
Members of the parish who greet those attending weekend Masses and bring order to our liturgies. These ministers are also referred to as ushers or greeters.

Job Search:
The loss of a job and the search process is a time filled with many emotions. It is a lonely process, unless we invite God into the process, allow Him to take on our burdens, and ultimately not only find a new job opportunity, but more importantly, achieve a closer relationship with God. That is what "Job Search" ministry is all about, reaching out to the unemployed to provide job search techniques, spiritual support, and growth in faith.

Knights of Columbus: 

   The Knights of Columbus has become the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society having been called "the strong right arm of the Church," and has been praised by popes, presidents and other world leaders, for support of the Church, programs of evangelization and Catholic education, civic involvement and aid to those in need.  Members working in local  councils carry on the majority of the Knights’ beneficial work.  The Knights of Columbus St. Clare of Assisi Council 7119 meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.

Landscape Committee:
Volunteers of all skill levels are always welcome to plant and maintain the gardens at St. Clare. Whether you choose to have your own garden to maintain or just want to assist on major project, we would enjoy hearing from you.

Lectors:
High school age to adult volunteers perform ministry of reading the scripture at Mass.

Legion of Mary:
The Legion of Mary is an international lay organization open to all Catholics eighteen years and older who are looking for Church-directed spiritual formation plus a plan of evangelization with the guidance of a spiritual director. It provides a program of prayer, discussion, study, and action to help lead its members and others to Jesus through Mary. Meetings are held on Tuesday evenings at 7pm in the bride's room in Church.

Liturgy Commission:

Advises, plans and assists in all parish liturgies. The Liturgy Committee generally meets once a month.

Liturgy of the Word for Children:
Liturgy of the Word for Children is a planned faith experience which enables the children of our parish (ages 5-10) to participate in the Liturgy of the Word segment of the Mass as fully as their age and development will allow. At the 8 and 10am Sunday Masses the children are invited to leave the main assembly to hear Scripture and a reflection that have been specifically adapted and designed for them. After professing their faith and praying for others in a separate worship space, the children return to their parents in the main assembly after the Presentation of the Gifts.

Mailing Committee:
A group responsible for large parish mailings - and at the same time enjoys the friendship of their fellow parishioners in a happy, relaxed atmosphere.

Marriage Encounter:
A weekend of sharing and enrichment for married couples.

Men's Club:

Organization of men to assist the parish and its members with their needs and to promote the best interests of the parish. Membership is open to any male member of the parish over 21. The men's club sponsors fund raisers, sport and social activities. Regular meetings are held the first Monday of every month at 7:30 pm in the Cafeteria.

Men's Retreat:

Regularly scheduled weekend experiences for prayer, spiritual direction, and guidance are scheduled for St. Clare parishioners. White House Retreat (during August& October).

MOMS:

Ministry of Mom's Sharing:
The Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) is a group designed to provide mothers of all ages and experiences an opportunity to claim motherhood as an important gift from God.  It allows mothers time for personal and spiritual nurturing and the opportunity to deepen the commitment to God and family.  The group meets once a week for eight weeks.

Money Counters:
Persons who volunteer to count the weekly collection. Counting is done on Sunday mornings.

Passionist Auxiliary League:
For some 50 years the Passionist Auxiliary League has proved to be an effective organization by which our Passionist Nuns are helped and, in turn, help the people of God! PAL does this by serving as a visible presence in the world for the (financial [annual dues are $10.00] and otherwise) needs, support and promotion of the nuns. PAL also initiates undertakings for the spiritual growth and numerical growth of the organization. Two traditional annual activities of PAL are a Day of Recollection on Ash Wednesday and a Communion Brunch and Meeting.

Pastoral Care:
This committee's purpose is to assist the pastor in any service to the parishioners of St. Clare that he deems necessary. Members provide such services as: transportation to medical appointments, visiting the sick and lonely, emergency adult/baby sitting, and emergency meals provided for the ill.

Prayer Request Line:
 
If you have an urgent prayer request, please call one of the captains of the phone chain. The members of the phone chain and e-mail chain will then offer their prayers for your request.

Religious Education (PSR):
Program strives to bring religious education primarily to children who attend non-parochial schools. Classes may be attended on Mondays during the school year or for two weeks in June.

Respect Life:
This group fosters the Catholic precept of respect for life from conception to natural death among our parish members. It's mission is to give the members of St. Clare s Parish an opportunity to speak out and act against abortion and all threats to life. The Respect Life Committee meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month after 9am Mass in the Bride's Room.

Sacristans:

Assists the priests and deacons in preparing the various articles for Mass.

St. Patrick Center Outreach:
Casseroles and salads are taken on the fourth Monday of each month to St. Patrick's Shelter to feed the homeless.

  St. Vincent de Paul Society:

Aids destitute families or anyone in need of emergency financial help. This committee meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Assisi House.

School Board:
The School Board advises the Pastor on school matters pertaining to the Kindergarten through Eighth grade programs. The main responsibilities of the Board are to establish student, teacher and curriculum policies in accord with Archdiocesan policies and to formulate a formal line-item budget each school year. The School Board meets throughout the school year on the third Tuesday of every other month at 7pm in the Junior High building. Visitors are always welcomed.

School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO):
An organization of parents and teachers of St. Clare's full-time school. Their goal is to foster mutual support and communication among all members of the community, and to provide a positive Christian spirit by focusing on social and educational activities.

Small Church Communities:
Launched each Fall, small church communities are an excellent way to experience a warm, caring, supportive community of faith within our larger community that we call parish. Groups of 8-12 meet in the home weekly or bi-monthly at a time that best meets your schedule. All are invited! Come as you are!

Together We're Better Certificate Program:

Parishioners can purchase / exchange merchant (grocery, retail and restaurant) certificates at face value from which the merchants give a portion of these dollars back to our parish community, with the percentage ranging from 4-15%. These certificates are sold after all weekend masses throughout the year. During the school year, they are sold in the Assisi House Parking Lot from 7:35 - 8:10 AM Monday - Friday. Also look for the TWB Certificate sales at many other St. Clare functions (i.e. Fish Frys, Information Sunday).

Welcoming Committee:
This organization informs new parishioners of the various parish commissions, organizations and committees. It explains the educational and social opportunities available and presents the new family with an up-to-date "Parish Guide Book and Directory". The committee also sponsors welcoming socials to offer an opportunity for present members to meet the new.

West County Separated Divorced, & Widowed Catholics:
This organization provides peer ministry support to the separated, divorced and widowed persons of West County. Under the auspices of the Office of Laity & Family Life, the program is called the Arise Ministry, and ministers to the emotional, spiritual and educational needs of those who have lost a spouse through death or divorce.

A spiritual & social support group for those who have lost their spouse.

Youth Ministry:
St. Clare Youth Ministry strives to foster the Catholic formation of high school and jr. high youth through spiritual, intellectual, and social programming. The primary goal of this ministry is to lead youth to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, the other sacraments, prayer, and the Church, transforming them into leaders who will transmit the Gospel to the spiritually and materially poor. Youth ministry is done using a variety of programs, including primarily LIFE TEEN for high school youth, and CROSSRoads for jr. high youth, which seek the same goals, using methods appropriate to each age group.
