Mrs. Karen Hummel

My name is Karen Hummel and I have been a teacher for over 30 years.  I received my Bachelors Degree in Education from Southeast Missouri State University.  My two biggest passions in teaching are Art and Science.  I consider myself lucky to be able to teach both here at SCA.  I have taught Art here for the last 8 years and Science to our 4th and 5th grade students for the last 2 years.  I enjoy instilling my passion for Art to the students through the use of ceramics, paints, posters, pottery, and drawing techniques.  I strongly believe that Science is a necessity to teach to our younger students in order to prepare them for the future -- here at SCA we introduce dissection of frogs, worms, owl pellets, etc. at the 4th grade level.  I am proud to be a member of the wonderful faculty here at St. Clare!
