Dress Code Guidelines

Students are expected to dress and present an appearance consistent with standards of good taste and appropriate for school and school events. Any dress or wearing insignia which conveys the image of gang membership, supports the beliefs of hate groups, makes sexual innuendos, or promotes drugs, alcohol, or tobacco is inappropriate for school and may not be worn.

According to School Board Policy, all students at St. Clare of Assisi School will wear the designated uniform.  All uniform selections are available from Just Me Apparel on Old Sulphur Springs Road in Manchester, Catholic School Supply and Fischer Uniforms. 

Students are expected to be well groomed (uniform and hair) at all times and be in compliance with the school uniform code.  

Copies of the uniform code are available in the office and at the Just Me Apparel store.

• To ensure a uniform look with the student’s school clothes, please purchase plaid items, navy pants (and shorts), gym clothes, sweaters, sweatshirts and fleeces through Just Me Apparel.  White items may be purchased at the supplier of your choice.  No logos are permitted on shirts, blouses, turtlenecks or socks.
• Skirts are to be no more than two inches above the knee.
• Shirts and blouses must remain tucked inside pants, shorts, or skirts (i.e., belt/waistband must be visible).  Only white turtlenecks may be worn as part of the uniform.   
• Only St. Clare of Assisi gray sweatshirts, red sweater, red nylon pullover, red or navy jacket or the red fleece purchased from Just Me Apparel will be worn in the classroom in grades K-8.  Students in 8th grade may also wear the class designed/school approved sweatshirt.
• Boys’ uniform pants may not be cuffed or rolled.
• A black, brown, or navy belt must be worn with pants and shorts with belt loop
• A watch (NO Smart watches) and/or small religious necklace may be worn.  No bracelets or dangling jewelry of any type are to be worn (this includes rubber bracelets that support a specific cause or hair ties).   No makeup, nail polish, or artificial nails of any kind are permitted.
• All students are expected to have neat, conservative hairstyles (no bleached, dyed, or tipped hair).  Boys’ hair should not go beyond their collar or below the eyebrow.
• During the winter for warmth, girls may wear footed navy blue or black tights or fitted leggings (which must cover the ankle) under their jumpers. Navy uniform slacks may be worn instead of the jumper.   Sweatpants or pants that flare at the ankle may not be worn.
• Students must wear plain white (no logo) crew socks or the blue or red St. Clare socks.  “No-show” type socks are not permitted.
• No hats or other headwear are permitted in the classroom or school.
• Shoes are to be leather or tennis shoes.  No sandals, slides, clogs, backless shoes, or boots (like Ugg's) are permitted.        
• If an undershirt or t-shirt is worn under the polo shirt, it must be plain white.
